Levi - Blind

October 8th, 2008

Levi came to us from a breeder in Kansas City.  We noticed that he liked to be very close to the Goldens in his foster home and did not like going outside by himself.  We recently discovered that he is partially blind.  We are taking him to the University to see if the blindness will get worse, if we can repair the damage or if it will get better.  His foster mom says that this is the best puppy that she has ever had.

STORMY & MOXY

September 20th, 2008

These two girls were found in East Saint Louis covered with fleas.  One had a growth that we removed that should have been removed years ago.  Animal Control picked them up and they were to be PTS the day that we picked them up.  They know sit, love riding in the car, know kennel up and love treats.  You give kisses and they come running, sit in front of you and give paw.  They are now safe with Dirks Fund.

Brooke - Spike

September 9th, 2008

Isn’t she gorgeous?  We were at a high kill facility to get another critter and in walks this one.  We heard them say that they were full and that they had no space.  She would have to be put down.  The spike of hair in the middle of her head was all it took.  She is sweet and is one of the favorites where we keep our critters.

It would have been a shame if we would have been a little earlier or later.

Yogi Bear

September 9th, 2008

Yogi loves the water.  He plays by himself but would prefer that someone throw balls for him to fetch.

Simba - Breeder

September 9th, 2008

The breeder had been breeding Simba continiously for 4 years and then decided to sell her because “she had a few more good years in her”.  None of the pups from her last litter survived.  We took her and are letting her know that fresh water and food are only the beginning of her new life.

Chained Out

September 9th, 2008

We arrived at a property where 5 critters were chained out in the yard.  We have the mom, dad and 3 off springs.  The female is Bee Bee and their offsprings were Cisco, Wrangler and Flower.  They were full of “seed ticks”.  They like being clean better !!

Breeding Females No More

Breeding Females No More

These girls were saved from a life with no coverage and very little human contact.  We are socializing them and bringing them to adoptions to get them some “permanent” homes.  There were 7 of them.  We named them Charlie, Alexandria, Georgie, Thelma, Louise, Frankie & Teddie.
